NIH OXFORD-CAMBRIDGE SCHOLARS PROGRAM

DESCRIPTION

The NIH/OXCAM Scholars Program is an accelerated, individualized PhD or MD/PhD training program for outstanding science students committed to biomedical research careers.  Scholars participate in cutting edge biomedical research in collaborative projects between labs of the National Institutes of Health in Maryland and either the University of Oxford or the University of Cambridge, from which they receive their doctoral degree. The scholarships fully fund PhD or DPhil training expenses, including tuition, college fees, stipend, health insurance and travel.  Scholars can receive full funding for combined MD/PhD training through the NIH MD/PhD Training Program.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Apply as a senior or as a recent graduate.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
  • Have a strong background and extensive research experience in the traditional areas of biomedical studies, or in computer science, engineering, mathematics and physics.
  • A cumulative GPA of ≥ 3.8 recommended.
